Trade offs

Ayep. Not so good at the blogging lately. I've been at home, isolated from the rest of the world for what seems like forever and 3 days and that equals BORING PERSON.

What can I mock and recount if I am not amongst the humans? Should I describe how my cat and I both had to go to the bathroom at the same time? Should I detail the pros and cons of various diaper options? I think not.

We applied for an apartment in Montreal last night. We weren't specifically looking, but I came across one on Craigslist and we saw it and applied. 2 bedroom, close to stuff, across from a park, corner building...I have no idea if we will get it. We decided we would take it if we did. After 3 years out here in no man's land, I guess I'm ready to trade river views and single home tranquility for not freezing to death in the winter, huddled around the fire place that burns money(wood), while I wait for someone to shovel the 4 feet of snowdrift from my front door so I can trudge through the snow to the damn grocery store, by foot and back again. It's nice in the summer and spring here. It's tranquil. I don't know though, something to be said about being not having to take a half hour train ride if you want to go to a yoga class or go out to dinner, or meet a friend or buy a vegetable that isn't iceberg lettuce.

With a baby on the horizon, it also seems like maybe I won't find being cooped up in my quiet, but isolated home in the middle of nowhere, as charming as I have for a while. The charm comes and goes...Life is change I suppose. I seem to bring change upon myself anyway, when I start to get too settled, despite my natural resistance to it. Either I like to give myself a hard time or part of me knows better than to stagnate.

Either way, it's not really up to us at this point. We await the landlords decision.

So today, in the meanwhile, exciting stuff on the horizon: Going to the walk-in clinic for a sore ear and throat, eating the rest of the cauliflower before it goes bad...oh and painting. Yes. I've been painting. Painting faces. I'll show you some soon.
